Avoid Fatigue

I am really enjoying daily blogging. It gives me an added purpose every day. It gives me something to think about in the car. But some days the physical landscape is so overwhelming, there's not much to say. So, in brief, here's yesterday's recap: we had breakfast in Santa Barbara with all the hung over Fiesta goers. Amanda drove the first leg of the journey, almost as far as Big Sur. We started out on the 101.

We passed the 1000 mile mark of our trip just before the Madonna Inn. Needless to say, Amanda was ready to stop and stay for a few nights.

Somewhere around Pismo Beach, we cut over to the Pacific Coast Highway.

It was rather curvy.

Then it was unmoving.

Then we had wine! We stopped for lunch at Ventana, the classic Big Sur hotel, spa and restaurant. Since 1975, Ventana has been THE place in Big Sur. I learned that in our guide book.

After lunch we continued north, through Monterey, towards the great mistress by the bay...

In the distance you can identify San Francisco by its extremely low ceiling.

This cat was killing it! Totally swinging.

We walked around Union Square.

And then met Amanda's friend, Eric, for Chinese crab and eggplant. So excellent. It's so important to know someone local to show you to the right places. He led us to two great bars, Rye and Swig, and to this funky little restaurant.

But Amanda's fortune was clearly meant for someone else.
