Until We Meet Again...

Okay, okay, I know. We're a day late, but we're back now, and that's the important thing. Yesterday was a good day, it was the day we left the desert. Of course, we had to travel through Death Valley to do so, and after two hours in the car, surrounded by brown mountains made of sand, we stopped at Baker for a little rest and a little bite. Now you may not have known this (I certainly didn't), but Baker, NV is the home of The Mad Greek, which apparently has "Best Gyros USA". This we had to see:

The verdict? Ummm, well they weren't the worst I've ever had...

The other thing that calls Baker its home is the World's Largest Thermometer. This was reason enough to stop there. I mean look at it, have you ever seen a bigger thermometer??

Two hours after we left Baker, the temperature outside dropped about 30 degrees, the vegetation returned, and we were in heaven. The top came down, and all was right with the world. The views were spectacular.

We landed in Carlsbad, just outside of San Diego, where Poppy Brownie and Granny Isabel were eagerly awaiting our arrival. After some good chat time at home, we all hopped in Poppy's red Cadillac and drove to the club for dinner. The view, the conversation, the company, the Rocky Road Pot Pie!, we had a terrific time. Poppy kept all the waiters, and us, in stitches.
Then back home and off to bed, once we all had our pajamas on, of course. Right, Poppy?

The trek north continued this morning, more on that from Hector in the next post! For now, some of us are in desperate need of a cocktail. And by some of us I mean me.

xoxo
